President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Huynh Dam has congratulated the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on its 30th anniversary (November 7).

In his letter to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on Nov. 3, he praised the VBS on the results of its operations and the positive contributions of the VBS and all Vietnamese Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in and outside the country to the great national unity bloc and national construction and defence over the past 30 years.

“Since it was established, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha always encourages Buddhist monks, nuns and followers nationwide to follow Party policies and State laws, respond to and take part in patriotic emulation campaigns and other campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, contributing to the common cause of the country,” the letter wrote.

He called on the VBS to continue promoting its role as a VFF member in encouraging Buddhist monks, nuns and believers in and outside the country to implement and translate the 11th Party Congress Resolutions into life.

Dam said he believed that VBS will prepare well for the 7th national congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in 2012, serving as a basis for promoting Vietnamese Buddhism’s tradition for the creation of a rich people and a strong, democratic and civilised country./.
