The Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) – an umbrella of Vietnamese socio-political organisations - agreed to improve social supervision and censure this year as a core task at its seventh conference that took place in Hanoi on January 13 and 14.
In the coming time, it will also review how the policy of great national unity has been implemented, pay attention to ethnic groups, religious people and policies exclusively designed for overseas Vietnamese.
In his closing remarks, Politburo member and VFFCC President Nguyen Thien Nhan asked for the early formulation of legal documents guiding the implementation of the Politburo’s Decision on social supervision and censure.
On key tasks in the future, he said a project to popularise national culture in Vietnamese communities abroad should be worked out soon. The VFF should also be responsible for bolstering public trust by listening to their aspirations, he added.
Over the past time, the VFFCC and its chapters have launched campaigns in support of poor households and policy beneficiaries. Such moves have helped strengthen public trust in local authorities.
At the event, 11 delegates were elected to the VFFCC and two others to its Presidium for the seventh tenure, raising the number of their respective members to 350 and 58.-VNA
