A National Week on Vietnamese Women will take place from March 1-8 with various activities to be held throughout the nation to honour the role of women, especially female entrepreneurs, in the cause of national development.

The week will also provide an opportunity for successful female entrepreneurs to propose measures to improve business and investment environment, develop the national economy and address difficulties faced by women in their business operations.

At a press conference in Hanoi on January 12, Pham Gia Tuc, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that a series of activities will be held during the week, including a photo exhibition on Vietnamese women, a female entrepreneurs’ forum and a ceremony to mark the 25 th anniversary of the Kovalevskaia Award.

Highlights of the week will be a celebration of 100 years of the International Women’s Day (March 8) and a ceremony to present the Golden Rose Cup to outstanding female entrepreneurs in 2009. The programmes are expected to be broadcast live on VTV1 on March 6 and 7./.
