Former Cuban State leader Fidel Castro released his second memoir entitled “The Strategic Counter-Offensive” at the Havana University on September 10.

The 608-page volume describes the Cuban guerrillas’ struggles against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in the Sierra Maestra mountainous area and the victorious revolution led by Commander Fidel Castro in January 1959, which opened up a new era for Cuba – an era of independence, freedom and socialism.

At the debut ceremony, Castro read several extracts of the book and commented on events written in it.
