The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) is to help Vietnam apply a system to manage information concerning football.

The President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Nguyen Trong Hy, met with FIFA officials in Hanoi on September 9 to sign an agreement to bring the project to Vietnam .

The system will help upgrade football management and improve the capacity and quality of the VFF operation.

The first phase of the project began in May 2010, after FIFA had held training courses for the project’s IT staff.

It will take almost three years to complete the system, which will become operational by 2014, said Christian Michels, a FIFA IT specialist, who added that the organisation will create the software to register players, coaches and referees, and manage national tournaments.

Vietnam is one of the 14 FIFA member federations to benefit from the project. In Southeast Asia, FIFA is also supporting Thailand , Myanmar and Cambodia.-VNA
