Fiji wishes to become ASEAN observer

Fiji is seeking Indonesia ’s support to obtain the observer status of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the coming time.

The Fijian PrimeMinister Voreqe Bainimarama made the request at a meeting with theIndonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the framework of hisvisit to Indonesia from April 4-6.

He hopedthat Indonesia , as ASEAN Chair in 2011 will give support to Fijito become an observer of the organisation.

In relying , the Indonesian President promised to convey Fiji ’s proposal to other ASEAN leaders.

Indonesia and Fiji established diplomatic relations in 1974./.

Indian airline launches direct Mumbai–Hanoi route

The new route operates four flights a week and is the first direct Mumbai–Hanoi service operated by an Indian airline. Hanoi has become Akasa Air’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia, after Phuket, Thailand.
