Speaker of Finland’s Parliament Sauli Niinisto and his entourage paid a visit to the north-eastern province of Quang Ninh on Jan. 13.

Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh briefed the Finnish delegation about the province’s socio-economic development achievements and its potential.

Quang Ninh strives for an industrial province by 2015, he said, adding that the province is making efforts to ensure social security and create favourable environment for economic development and investment attraction.

Speaker Sauli Niinisto praised Quang Ninh’s development achievements in all sectors, expressing his wish that the friendship between Finland and Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh province, in particular, will be closer.

The Finnish delegation also made a tour of and voted for Ha Long Bay to be one of the world’s new seven wonders.

Speaker Sauli Niinisto then left Hanoi to wrap up his visit to Vietnam./.
