At 11:30 a.m. on March 7, the first flight of the national flag carrier (Vietnam Airlines) to Bucharest (Romania), which will will bring home Vietnamese people who get affected by the war in Ukraine, officially departed from Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi).

The aircraft selected by Vietnam Airlines to repatriate Vietnamese people in Ukraine belong to Boeing 787-9 series, which has the ability to fly non-stop long-distance.

283 passengers in Romania will get on this aircraft and return to Noi Bai International Airport at 9:30 a.m. on March 8.

Regarding the criteria for selecting crews to repatriate Vietnamese citizens, Vietnam Airlines always chooses experienced people with lots of flight hours.

Attendants on the flight are all chief flight attendants, who are experienced in handling emergency situations.

As the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has pioneered and participated in various repatriation campaigns such as carrying home hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people from more than 30 countries, regions, and territories amid the COVID-19 outbreak; evacuating workers in Libya in 2011, and 2014; supporting Vietnamese citizens to return home during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and taking Vietnameses out of Thailand due to the political crisis here in 2008…

In the immediate future, Vietnam will organize two repatriation flights, with one from Romania on March 7, 2022 (the flight will be operated by Vietnam Airlines) and the other from Poland on March 9, 2022 (the flight will be operated by Bamboo Airways).

Based on the request of the Consular Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to increase flights to bring back Vietnamese citizens from Ukraine, the Civil Aviation Authority assigned Vietnam Airlines to operate the third flight from Bucharest (Romania) to Noi Bai (Hanoi).

This flight will depart from Noi Bai at 9:30 a.m. on March 10, 2022, to Bucharest (Romania) and land at Noi Bai at 11:30 (Hanoi time) on March 11, 2022./.
