First international tourism fair opens in Hanoi

More than 400 domestic and foreign businesses, including airlines, travel agencies and hotel and resort operators, are taking part in the first Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM), which opened in Hanoi on April 18.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy MinisterNguyen Thien Nhan praised the organistion of the VITM, saying it meetsthe demands of both tourists and businesses.

Hesaid the Government supports the annual hosting of such an event andencourages foreign friends to continue attending the event in the comingyears.

The four-day event covers numerous activities to introduce destinations, offer tourism products and organise workshops.

Thenumber of international foreign visitors to Vietnam rose to 6.8million last year from 1.3 million in 1995 while the number of domesticholiday makers increased remarkably from 6.9 million to 32.5 millionover the same period.

Vietnam has more than 30,000 tourism businesses, generating jobs for 1.5 million workers.-VNA

Do Ha Thao, Secretary in charge of cultural affairs at the embassy, said that visitors show great interest in the Vietnamese booth, asking for information about tours and promotional programmes. Some of the visitors had previously been to Vietnam and wish to return.

Binh Thuan province remains tourist magnet

In the first three months, the province welcomed 2.6 million visitors, including 152,000 foreigners, up nearly 14% and 17% year-on-year, respectively. Tourism revenue surpassed 7 trillion VND, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.

Hanoi is popularising its cultural heritage sites, and transforming historical, architectural, religious, and cultural monuments into distinctive tourism products. Featured attractions include the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Co Loa Ancient Citadel, and the Temple of Literature.

Vietnam in’l travel mart 2025 opens in Hanoi
