On January 26, the first two regular commercial flights from Europe operated by the national carrier Vietnam Airlines landed in Hanoi after nearly two years of interruption due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flight number VN36 from Frankfurt (Germany) to Hanoi carrying 190 passengers and flight VN18 from London to Paris to Hanoi carrying nearly 300 passengers landed safely at Noi Bai international airport at 9:30 a.m. and 9:55 am respectively on January 26.

Up to now, Vietnam Airlines has resumed regular passenger transport operations in 12 countries and territories including the US, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan (China), Australia, Russia, and most recently the UK, France, and Germany.

This is a positive result of an important and meaningful decision of the Government as well as the urgency and efforts of Vietnamese aviation authorities in negotiations to resume regular flights.

The resumption of regular flights will help Vietnamese communities abroad as well as tourists in Europe to make their travel plans easier

The resumption of regular flights of Vietnamese airlines in the past few days also marks the period of reopening regular international flights, restoring the air bridge connecting Vietnam with the world. This also brings in a chance to recover strongly after the pandemic.

Previously, on January 24, Bamboo Airways announced a direct route between Vietnam and Germany and open an official agency in the German market.

As for Vietjet, from January 1, the airline has opened ticket sales and re-operated international commercial flights between Hanoi/HCMC and Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, and Singapore.
