The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court on Dec. 30 sentenced five members of a trans-national drug trafficking ring to death after a three-day trial.

Receiving the death penalty were Vo Anh Tuan, Nguyen Xuan Dan, Luu Hoang Thao, Vo Tien Thang and Hoang Phung Bac Son.

Three members of the ring, Tran Ngoc Dinh, Lu Huu Loi and Truong Van Hoa, were sentenced to life imprisonment, while six others got jail sentences of between 7-20 years.

According to the indictment, between 2001 and January 2010, the ring members trafficked 20 cakes of heroin (almost 7kg) and more than 300 grams of drugs./.
