Construction of a flagpole that affirms the nation’s sacred sovereignty over seas and islands began on July 8 on Nhon Chau island in central Binh Dinh province.

The 22.66m flagpole is being built through cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Vietnamese Students’ Association and the Binh Dinh authorities.

Earlier, similar works were launched at Tho Chu and Ly Son islands in southern Kien Giang and central Quang Ngai provinces, respectively.

The flagpole is expected to be complete on the occasion of the National Day (September 2).

Nhon Chau island, also known as Cu Lao Xanh, is about 12 nautical miles from Quy Nhon city, with a population of over 2,100.-VNA
