At least 23 people were killed and nearly 3 million people in 25 out of 77 provinces across Thailand have been affected by floods, said the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department.

Heavy rains in the northern province of Phitsanulok have caused the Yom River to overflow and inundate a vast area of farmland.

Meanwhile, flooding has forced an estimated 15,000 people in northeastern Ubonratchathani and Si Saket provinces to evacuate.

Nearly 100,000 people in central Ayuthaya province are also living in one to two metres of deep floodwater.

The Thai Government has held many meetings with relevant agencies in Bangkok to work out measures to respond to the inundation in northeastern and central provinces.-VNA
