The government of Belarus wants to further multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, its Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei has said.

During his talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi on March 24, the Belarusian official spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and international integration.

Deputy PM Minh affirmed Vietnam always attaches importance to developing cooperation with Belarus.

The two sides expressed their pleasure at the fine development of their traditional friendship and mutual support in the international arena.

They agreed to boost economic cooperation, focusing on increasing the bilateral trade value and balancing trade in order to match their potential and meet the two peoples’ desires.

Both host and guest discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in many sectors, including military technology, labour, culture and education.

They also agreed to intensify cooperation at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations.

After the talks, the two officials witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement and a cooperation programme between the two foreign ministries for the 2014-2015 period.

Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei is visiting Vietnam from March 23-25 at the invitation of Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh.-VNA
