China’s Under-21 team won the International U-21 Football Tournament after beating Vietnam’s U-19s 4-2 in an electrifying final on October 18 at Binh Duong Stadium in the southern province of Binh Duong.

The Chinese won the title at their first attempt, and took home prize money of 15,000 USD and the trophy.

The Vietnamese U-19 team were awarded with 100 million VND (5,500 USD), a 1,000 USD fair-play award and cash bonus of 150 million VND (8,300 USD) from the Vietnam Football Federation.

China opened the scoring when Tan Tian Cheng directed Murehemaiti Jiang Mozhapa’s corner into the net, before lashing in a powerful 30m freekick a few minutes later.
Vietnamese midfielder Ngo Hoang Thinh pulled a goal back for the hosts on 40 minutes and with just two minutes remaining before half time, Nguyen Hai Huy sparked celebrations as he levelled the match with 35 m cannon shot from the edge of the box.

The Chinese began to get a grip on the game despite poor conditions as the second half got underway.

In the 73 rd minute, Tan Tiancheng’s left cross, was fumbled by Vietnamese goalie Duc, leaving Yang Yihu to prod home the loose ball.

The game was put beyond doubt when Tiancheng completed his hat-trick with a 90 th minute close-range shot.
In the earlier third-place match, the Vietnam U-21 team beat Singapore 2-1./.
