Thai Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterSurapong Tovichakchaikul, who has recently been assigned by the PrimeMinister to oversee the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order(CAPO), revealed that the international community has expressed itsconcern over the political situation in Thailand, as several countriesurged the caretaker government to resort to peaceful means in settlingdifferences with the protesters.
They also voiced theirsupport for the upcoming general election under the democratic system.The international community hoped that the election, which is scheduledfor February 2 next year, will go smoothly so that Thailand canquickly restore peace and stability.
Among the countries making the statement were the US, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, and China.-VNA
