Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia attracted roughly 6.9 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first half of this year, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

The New Straits Times quoted Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed as saying that amount has already reached 78.2 percent of the year’s target.

The minister said there has been continued interest by foreign investors despite the current economic scenario.

Meanwhile, the total investment in the first half hit 88.4 billion MYR (21.3 billion USD), a decrease from 125.9 billion MYR (30.45 billion USD) recorded in last year’s same period.-VNA
