Foreign riders came out on top at both men’s and women’s events at the international cycling championship Vietnam Victory Challenge 2015.

The competition, included three stages from Dap Suoi Vang (Golden Stream Dam) to Thung Lung Tinh Yeu (Love Valley), from Thung Lung Tinh Yeu to Dap Suoi Vang and the surrounding of Thung Lung Tinh Yeu in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, closed on March 22.

Canadian rider Cory Wallace won the men’s professional event as he completed the three stages in the terrain of Da Lat city and Lac Duong district covering a total length of 150km with a time of 6 hours 6 minutes.

The second place belonged to German rider Bastian Dohling, who was two minutes more than Wallace, and the 7th Military Region’s Vietnamese Phung Van Loc came in third.

In the women’s category, Sarah Kaufmann of the United States took first place with a time of 8 hours 3 minutes. Dang Thi Ngoc Huyen and Tran Thi Kim Anh, both from southern Dong Thap province were in second and third place, respectively.

The organisers also handed out several prizes to amateur cyclists of various age brackets.

The tournament, which was held for the first time in Lam Dong, attracted 90 riders from Vietnam and 10 other countries.-VNA
