Some 200 alumni of the former Vietnam Military Minors School met in Hanoi on October 18 to mark the school foundation 60 years ago.

The meeting was honoured with the presence of State President Nguyen Minh Triet, who showed his deep emotion at recalling the tradition of hard study and sacrifices to the nation by the underage veterans.

“Many of you have grown up from this school and become reputable scientists and artists as well as high-level Party and State officials”.

“The former military minors have handed down the traditional spirit of hard study, hard working and loyalty to the Party ideology to the younger generations during the national construction and defence,” said the State leader.

The Vietnam Military Minors School with original name as the Central Military Minors School was inaugurated in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on October 1, 1949.

Though existing for just three years, the school had fulfilled the target of training well-educated and politically-armed successors for the army and other civil sectors.

The liaison board of the school alumni has so far expanded its network to 19 provinces and cities with an estimated 600 members./.
