The 2010 World Economic Forum on East Asia is a chance for Vietnam to draw a lesson for its development through presentations by international experts and scholars.

President Nguyen Minh Triet was speaking while hosting a banquet in honour of leaders and delegates to the forum in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6.

The banquet was attended by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Lao PM, Bouasone Bouphavanh , Myanmar PM, Thein Sein, and the host Vietnam , Nguyen Tan Dung, Vice Chairwoman of the Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Zhizhen and WEF President Klaus Schwab.

Vietnam determines to integrate into the world’s economy and will do its best to develop the country, contributing to the development of East Asia and Asia , he said.

Vietnam and other regional countries always pay due attention to combine economic development with society, human and environment issues, President Triet said. As a result, Vietnam in its policies both develops economy and deals with social issues, including the fulfillment of the UN Millennium Development Goals for poverty reduction and hunger alleviation ahead schedule, which is praised by the UN and international organisations, he added.

Vietnam also pays attention to food production to ensure food security for the country and the world at large, President Triet said./.
