More than 190 children between 10 to 16 years-old from 30 cities and provinces nationwide gathered in Hanoi on August 6 for the fourth National Children’s Forum.


Themed “Lang nghe tre em noi” (Listen to Children), the event is a venue for children to express their ideas and aspirations ,and put forth proposals concerning their involvement in communal activities.

Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Dao Hong Lan said child protection and care have received attention from all levels in recent years towards creating a safe, friendly and equal environment for all children.

She lauded child participation in social activities like the children’s rights club, the junior reporter club and other activities for children.

At the forum, participants will speak their ideas and aspirations in regards to the amendment of the law on child protection and education, including measures to ensure and bolster children’s role in families, schools and the community, she said.

On the same day, the children had an opportunity to evaluate ministries and sectors’ implementation of recommendations and messages of children from previous forums.

On August 8, the closing day of the event, the children will meet and talk with leaders from the Party, State ministries and sectors.-VNA
