France funds Indochina’s new disease research

France will provide 3.5 million USD to support the Pasteur Institutes in Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia in medical research on newly emerging diseases in Southeast Asia .
France will provide 3.5 million USD to support the Pasteur Institutes in Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia in medical research on newly emerging diseases in Southeast Asia .

The funding was part of a credit package signed in the capital city of Phnom Penh on March 11, between France and Cambodia .

As many as 39 million USD of the 47.7 million USD credit will be spent on the supply of safe water for Phnom Penh citizens from now to 2020. The rest of the sum goes to projects on irrigation and social-economic development in Cambodia .

The credit was inked under the witness of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister cum Finance Minister Keat Chhon and visiting Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD) Dov Zerah.

Since 1993, France has provided Cambodia with 351 million USD in financial assistance, 151 million USD of which is non-refundable aid.-VNA
