Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), an Australian non-governmental organisation, has provided free eye check-ups to 530 poor patients in Don Duong district, the Central Highland province of Lam Dong.

The activity is part of its comprehensive eye care project being implemented in 15 provinces and cities across the country.

The provincial centre for social disease prevention has coordinated with the foundation in building infrastructure, providing medical equipment, and training staff in order to create better conditions to treat common eye ailments and carry out cataracts surgery.

In the coming time, the centre will continue to conduct eye check-ups for patients in the local districts of Lac Duong, Da Teh and Don Duong.

The FHF-sponsored project will offer some 100 cataract surgeries in November.

The project in Lam Dong will run until 2016.-VNA
