An Giang (VNA) - A programme to set up “Rice ATMs” in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang was launched on December 22 by Prudential Vietnam together with the province’s Red Cross Society.

Six rice dispensers will be installed in six communes in Long Xuyen city and Tan Phu district, covering 1,350 households in difficult circumstances. Each will be eligible to receive 10 kg of rice.

A similar programme was carried out by Prudential Vietnam in the central localities of Da Nang, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, and Quang Binh, and will come to the southern province of Binh Phuoc and Ha Giang and Yen Bai provinces in the northern mountainous region.

The “Rice ATMs” are expected to provide more than 11,000 disadvantaged families hit by COVID-19 around the country with 200 tonnes of rice, according to CEO of Prudential Vietnam Phuong Tien Minh./.
