French President Francois Hollande and his Philippine counterpart, Benigno Aquino III, called for global actions against climate change during their talks in Manila, the Philippines, on February 26.
In the talks, Hollande announced assistance worth 50 million euros (56 million USD) for the Philippines to stave off calamities in the future.
Hollande is on a two-day trip to the Philippines as part of his drive to create diplomatic momentum ahead of the 21st United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-21) in Paris in December.
A global agreement on climate change prevention is expected to be signed at the conference. It will replace the Kyoto Protocol expired in 2020.
