The An Giang chapter of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association (VFFA) held its second congress in the southern province on September 12.

Delegates re-elected Nguyen Trung Lap as the chairman to lead the 19-member executive board.

During the 2013-2018 tenure, the chapter will continue to improve operational efficiency in line with the new situation. It will also work with local authorities and associations to foster people-to-people exchanges with France.

The chapter plans to expand its branches, respond to the activities initiated by the central association, as well as organise cultural events to popularise the image of Vietnam and An Giang province to the people of France.

In the first tenure, the chapter and its branches carried out numerous activities to foster Vietnam-France relations.

In 2007, An Giang and France’s Val D’oise province signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in civil safety, education-training, urban planning, tourism development and air services.

Also in the first tenure, the chapter founded a French language club and a library to enhance French language use among its members.-VNA
