With box office intake from Vietnam, the United States and Canada worth nearly 8.6 million USD, Vietnamese movie Hai Phuong (or ‘Furie’) has smashed Vietnamese box office records to become the local highest-grossing movie of all time.

Directed by Le Van Kiet, the latest action movie produced by and starring Ngo Thanh Van has reached 5.8 million USD in Vietnamese box office only two weeks after its release.

It has also officially debuted in the U.S since March 1 and gained some 600,000 USD after two weeks.

Furie tells the story of a woman from the Mekong Delta whose daughter has been kidnapped. The fighting fit mother embarks on a journey to find her daughter against all odds and all the bad guys.-VNA
