The annual Furniture and Handicrafts Trade Fair 2012 got underway in Ho Chi Minh City on October 3, attracting more than 300 exhibitors from 100 enterprises in the sector.
The fair, which runs until October 6, is also attended by several trade promotion centres from Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An and Ninh Binh provinces.
According to Le Van Khoa, Deputy Director of HCM City ’s Industry and Trade Department, the fair is important for connecting domestic furniture and handicrafts producers with overseas partners.
It also gives medium- and small-sized enterprises the opportunity to boost their export without having to leave the country, thus reducing costs, he added.
Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Tran Quoc Khanh added that the fair will also encourage exhibitors to promote their products more and seek out major contracts.-VNA
