Garment firm to seek opportunities in Canadian market

The Garment 10 Corporation and a number of member enterprises of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) will visit Canada to seek opportunities to export garment and textile products to the market.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Garment 10 Corporation and anumber of member enterprises of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex)will visit Canada to seek opportunities to export garment and textile productsto the market.

According to General Director of the Garment 10 CorporationThan Duc Viet, Canada is a promising market of Vietnam with import turnover ofgarment and textile products reaching 13.3 billion USD per year.

However, exports of Vietnamese garment and textile to themarket is just about 550 million USD per year, he noted, adding that Vietnamand Canada have yet to sign a bilateral free trade agreement, therefore theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)will help open up opportunities for Vietnam to increase exports to the marketin the future.

Once penetrating the market, Vietnamese garment and textileproducts will enjoy zero tariffs from the CPTPP, he said.

Viet stressed Canada has high demand for garment and textileproducts made of natural fabric, which is in line with Vietnam’s products.-VNA
