Gen Giap photos reflect comradeship

Entitled General Vo NguyenGiap with Veterans, the exhibition of 102 photos selected from acollection of 500, captures handshakes, hugs, smiles and meetingsbetween the general and members of the armed forces.

"Iorganised the exhibition as a gift to the General for his 102nd birthdaywhich falls on August 25," said Nghi, also a veteran.

"The photos also help me express respect to my comrades throughout the country," he said.

After selecting the photos, Nghi spent more than three months visitingthe people in the photos to record the circumstances of their meetingswith Giap for the exhibition.

Nghi was born in 1943 in thenorthern province of Hung Yen. He joined the army in 1962 and foughton many battlefields across the country. After being wounded andinfected by Agent Orange he gained skills in photography and became aphotojournalist.

The exhibition will run until Aug. 28 at Exhibition House, 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hanoi.-VNA

The complex comprises three main structures: the Chinh (Main) Tower, Cong (Gate)Tower and Lua (Fire) Tower. The Main Tower stands about 20.5 metres tall, featuring a square base and tiered roofs that narrow towards the top. The Fire Tower, with its distinctive boat-shaped curved roof, adds a contrasting feature to the ensemble. Columns, niches, lotus motifs and decorative patterns adorn the brick walls.

From Berlin, the Vietnamese guitar fosters cultural connections to global community

This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area. It will renovate existing structures, improve architecture and landscaping, upgrade technical infrastructure and create spaces for cultural, artistic and creative activities.
