A selection of films by well-known directors as well as surprising successes by young filmmakers that gained attention at other international film festivals will be shown at the German Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from September 27 to October 4.

After success in Hanoi , Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Hue, Da Nang, and Nha Trang, eight German films will be screened in HCM City by the Goethe-Institute.

The schedule includes films such as Barbara, Kaddish for a Friend, Victor and the Secret of Crocodile Mansion, Four Days in May, Animals United – Adventure in Africa, Home for the Weekend, Stopped on Track, and Sound of Heimat .

Barbara, which will be screened during the opening ceremony on September 27 in HCM City's CINEBOX at 212 Ly Chinh Thang Street, is a story of a woman torn between two countries, the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, and likewise between two men.

The festival has achieved overwhelming success in recent years, with more than 50,000 viewers in total. All of the films except one will have English and Vietnamese subtitles.

Free tickets will be provided by the Goethe-Institute in HCM City.-VNA
