The Hanoi Goethe Institute will feature a week of German film starting January 11.

Under Snow (2011) will start the week, taking viewers into a mountain village in Japan .

Directed by Ulrike Ottinger, the documentary combines traditional kabuki plays with poetry and music by Yumiko Tanaka to create a moving portrait of life in the tiny village. The screening will start at 7pm with English and Vietnamese subtitles.

The latest film adaptations of Brothers Grimm fairy tales will be presented over the weekend.

Cinderella and The Gallant Tailor will be shown on Saturday at 3 and 4pm, while Rapunzel and The Wishing Table will be screened on Sunday at the same times.

The following week will feature modern cinema with Barbara, This Ain't California, Vincent Wants to Sea, Men in the City 2, When We Leave and Three Fourths Moon.

At the screening of Three Fourths Moon on Jan 15 at 7pm, Carmen Oberhofer of German film distributor Majestic, who is in charge of the public relations and marketing for the film, will give a brief introduction and engage in a dialogue with the audience.

The week of film will end with the hit comedy Men in the City 2 on Jan 18.

All the films will be screened free with Vietnamese subtitles.-VNA
