Members of the award-winning Signum string quartet from Germany will perform in Hanoi on December 8 night.

Founded in 1994, the quartet features Kerstin Dill and Annette Walther on violin, Xandi van Dijk on viola and Thomas Schmits on violoncello.

In 2000, the quartet won a scholarship from Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in Bonn and the special prize at the Rheingau music festival. In 2004, the Signum quartet won the nationwide German Musikwettbewerb award and the special award at Zonta International. In 2008, the ensemble was awarded the third prize at the renowned Borciani Competition.

The group has distinguished itself as one of the leading German quartets of its generation. The quartet has performed extensively in Europe and at notable venues such as the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Philharmonie Essen, at the festival Aix-en-Provence and at the Rheigau-Musikfestival.

The ensemble was invited by the Goethe Institute last year to tour India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. They also embarked on a tour in Mexico last March.

The quartet also had a performance in HCM City on December 7. Their concert in Hanoi will start at 8pm at the Youth Theatre. This will be the last concert in the European Music Festival series./.
