The 13th congress of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology (DVFK) was held in Braunschweig city, in the state of Niedersachsen, Germany, on September 5.

Among those in attendance were DVFK members, a representative of the Association of Braunschweig Doctors – Hubert Binkoff--and around 100 professors, and cardiac physicians from German and Swiss hospitals and institutes.

Many German pharmaceutical companies were also present at the congress to introduce their new drugs and therapies for diseases of the heart.

The attendants discussed topics relating to the diagnosis of diseases of the heart and the accompanied risks. They also talked about experiences drawn from treatment for heart patients in Germany and Vietnam .

The congress agreed to send a delegation to Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City in November in order to give lectures and introduce new treatment therapies. The delegation will also provide check-up treatment for local patients.

DVFK has actively supported Vietnamese medical universities and heart treatment centres over the years, Vietnamese Minister Counsellor Bui Manh Cuong said when addressing the gathering.

German and Swiss professors, who have given lectures and provided treatment in Vietnam , said they were left with a good impression of their Vietnamese colleagues and would continue to assist the Vietnamese side in the future./.
