German Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Vietnam 2-0 in a friendly match at My Dinh National Stadium on May 12.

The match was a part of Vietnam Football Federation's plan to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoiin October and the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany .

Eintracht scored two goals by captain Alexander Meier in the 70th minute and Halil Altintop two minutes later.
Eintracht, who now stand 10th in Bundesliga ranking, excelled in physical strength and calmly controlled the match.

Vietnam 's team attacked from the opening whistle and created some chances.

In the 12th minute, Vietnam attacked with the coordination of Viet Thang and Thanh Luong, the latter a Golden Ball winner last year. However, luck was not on their side.

One minute later, Eintracht Frankfurt's Selim Teber faced Vietnamese goal keeper Hong Son but the ball hit the cross bar.

Eintracht controlled the match and rendered Vietnamese halfbacks ineffective. From the 30-34th minutes, goal hunter Alexander set up three scoring situations but they were unsuccessful. The hosts nearly found the goal in the last minute of the first half with a penalty kick by Quang Hai, but goalie Oka Nikolov saved.

After the break, Thanh Luong made Vietnamese fans leap to their feet in the 56th minute but his shot was wide, one of several missed chances in the half.

The Eintracht team was solid throughout. They will play V-League side Dong Tam Long An at HCM City 's Thong Nhat Stadium on May 14.

Eintracht Frankfurt was established in 1899 and won the European Cup in 1980. Composed of 14,000 members, it is the best known sports club in Frankfurt .
