The embassies of Germany and the US in Hanoi on Oct. 2 announced that their Governments will provide emergency aid to help victims of typhoon Ketsana in Vietnam .

Germany will give 435,000 USD and the US will provide 100,000 USD.

In a press release the same day, the German Embassy expressed their deep sympathy over losses caused by typhoon Ketsana in Vietnam and said that the donation will be channelled to Vietnam by the German Red Cross.

Meanwhile, in its press release, US Ambassador Michael Michalak extended his condolences to families of Katsana victims and announced that the US Government will provide 100,000 USD through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist the emergency relief activities of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) organisations to help 4,000 households hardest hit by the typhoon.

By the late afternoon on Oct. 1, the storm had left 93 dead, 23 missing and more than 200 injured./.
