The Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) hosted a get-together in Hanoi on Nov. 29 to mark the 36 th anniversary of Lao National Day (Dec. 2).

Addressing the event, Vu Trong Kim, VLFA President said that Vietnam and Laos have a special traditional friendship and comprehensive and long-term cooperation.

In the first seven months of this year, two-way trade rose by 60 percent over the same period last year.

Vietnam has invested in 203 projects capitalised at 3.3 billion USD in Laos, becoming one of the leading investors in the country. Meanwhile, Laos has had eight projects worth over 66 million USD in Vietnam.

Along with the development of Vietnam – Laos relations in the fields of politics, trade and culture, exchanges of the two peoples have developed strongly.

Somphon Synchaleun, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam said that Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Laos in June and Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone’s visit to Vietnam in August create a solid foundation and manifest the strong determination to maintain and promote traditional Laos – Vietnam relations./.
