Gift markets bustling on International Women’s Day

HCM City (VNA) – Stores in Ho Chi Minh City are offering a wide range of gifts and services to satisfy all kinds of demands and launching promotions to attract customers on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8).

Mai Hoa, a flower shop owner on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street in Binh Thanh district, said she has increased supply and hired more staff to pack and deliver flowers to meet the higher demand.

According to her, many people have opted online gift buying instead of shopping at physical shops and malls as this year's International Women's Day doesn’t fall on the weekend, adding that online shopping is more convenient for customers.

A bouquet of fresh flowers costs between 350,000-1 million VND (15.2-44 USD)

Jewelry companies like Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) have new collections and launched promotions. PNJ offers promotions of 1 million VND for customers if they buy gold jewelry worth from 5 million VND upwards. Those who purchase PNJ products online can enjoy a promotion of up to 30 percent.

Other retailers and businesses are offering discounts for essential goods. 

A number of tailor shops offer promotions up to 50 percent for people who purchase clothes or make a long dress on the occasion. Saigon Co.op supermarket is cutting prices for hair care and skincare products.

Nguyen Van Phuong, an office worker in District 1, said in addition to popular gift items, customers have more choices with some products such as health insurance and health care gifts, adding that a wide range of products are offered with discounts./.
