National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on July 22 visited and presented gifts to outstanding families which rendered services to the nation in Phu Quoc island district of the southern province of Kien Giang.

On the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the NA Vice Chairwoman and the provincial leaders also offered incense at the local martyrs’ cemetery and visited the Phu Quoc prison historical relic site.

During the visit, the delegation presented 40,000 cups of milk to poor children and those born in families with contributions to the country’s revolution in Phu Quoc island.

The milk donation was part of the “Vietnam Rising” Milk Fund programme jointly implemented by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children and the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).

The programme plans to give more than 67,000 cups of milk to children in Kien Giang province. It will also be carried out in the northern province of Yen Bai and the central province of Quang Binh this year.-VNA
