GMP-standardised pharmaceutical factory opens

The Vietnam Chemical Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (VCP) inaugurated a factory extracting materials for pharmaceutical production that meets WHO standards, in the northern province of Bac Ninh on July 20.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan attended the inaugurationceremony and pressed the button to kick off the factory’s firstextraction line at the Tien Son Industrial Park.

Nhansaid this is a modern chemical pharmaceutical factory with advancedtechnologies meeting three WHO standards, including Good ManufacturingPractice (GMP), Good Storage Practice (GSP) and Good Laboratory Practice(GLP).

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that thefactory will gain prestige in the domestic and foreign markets in thenext 10 years.

According to VCP Chairman Ngo Chi Dung,the factory will help limit material imports, ensure stable outputs formedicinal plant growing areas and provide jobs for local labourers.

The factory has a total investment of 10 million USD,including 6 million USD in the first phase. It is designed to have threeextraction lines with a combined capacity of nearly 500 tonnes ofproducts per year, of which the first 120-tonne extraction line has beeninstalled in the first year of operation./.
