The Vietnam Chemical Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (VCP) inaugurated a factory extracting materials for pharmaceutical production that meets WHO standards, in the northern province of Bac Ninh on July 20.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan attended the inauguration ceremony and pressed the button to kick off the factory’s first extraction line at the Tien Son Industrial Park.

Nhan said this is a modern chemical pharmaceutical factory with advanced technologies meeting three WHO standards, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Storage Practice (GSP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that the factory will gain prestige in the domestic and foreign markets in the next 10 years.

According to VCP Chairman Ngo Chi Dung, the factory will help limit material imports, ensure stable outputs for medicinal plant growing areas and provide jobs for local labourers.

The factory has a total investment of 10 million USD, including 6 million USD in the first phase. It is designed to have three extraction lines with a combined capacity of nearly 500 tonnes of products per year, of which the first 120-tonne extraction line has been installed in the first year of operation./.
