GMS countries join hands in combating human trafficking

Signing the declaration on behalf of the Thai government on April 30 was Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security Wichian Chavalit, who represented the Thai Minister of Social Development and Human Security at the 4th Inter-Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinated Mekong Ministerial Initiative against Trafficking (COMMIT), in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Wichian said that apart from the joint declaration, COMMIT also endorsed the 4th Sub-Regional Plan of Action for the period 2015 to 2018 that charts the course of cooperation among the six GMS countries on counter-trafficking over the next four years.
The GMS countries are Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
