Representatives of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries-- Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam --signed a cooperation agreement in Bangkok on Sept. 24 on compulsory insurance for cars in transit.

The document will facilitate the process of buying insurance for cars travelling across the border of GMS countries.

The move by the four countries is part of the implementation of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Goods in Transit.

According to Trinh Thanh Hoan, Head of the Finance Ministry’s Insurance Monitoring Department, the cooperation will speed up the resolution of related issues whenever any car from one country is having problems in the other three countries./.
