Vietnam bagged two golds and one silver at the on-going Southeast Asian Gymnastics Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.

The men’s team, comprised of Truong Minh Sang, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Hau Trung Linh and Pham Phuoc Hung, had a perfect performance to beat the hosts and grab a gold medal for the team event.

It’s sweet revenge for the Vietnamese team that lost to Thailand in the men’s team event two years ago at the SEA Games.

The women’s team finished fourth in the contest behind powerhouses Malaysia and Thailand.

But Phan Thi Ha Thanh won a gold in the women’s individual all-around performance, which consists of the balance beam, parallel bars, floor exercise and vault.

The Hai Phong – born athlete won a bronze medal in the vault event at the Asian Gymnastics Championship last year.

In the men’s all-around competition, Pham Phuoc Hung grabbed a silver medal.

Hung, who has been training in China since 1998, won a gold medal at the SEA Games in Vietnam when he cracked his wrist.

Vietnam still hopes to win more medals in the upcoming men’s and women’s individual events./.
