Born into a disadvantaged family in the suburbs of Hanoi, she grew up to become the pride of Vietnamese athletics, renowned for her vigour and passion. She is athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao, who recently won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Thao is also one of the 10 outstanding citizens of Hanoi this year.
Her persistent dedication has brought her medals and certificates of merit from the PM; the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; and the Hanoi People’s Committee. She sets a good example for young people to overcome difficulties to conquer their dreams. –VNA
