Golf tournament raises funds for archipelagos

A charitable golf tournament took place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 30 with the aim of raising 1 billion VND to buy equipment for health clinics in Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.
A charitable golf tournament took place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 30 with the aim of raising 1 billion VND to buy equipment for health clinics in Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.

The Swing for Life Golf Tournament 2011 drew the participation of more than 200 golfers.

First held in 2009, the annual tournament has collected money to buy thousands of wheelchairs for poor and disabled people, bring light to over 1,800 poor children with cataracts, and build clinics in Ho Chi Minh City and Ca Mau province.

The funds were also used to install a solar power system at Defence Platform DK1 and present scholarships to children of the platform’s soldiers, as well as provide surgery for poor kids with congenital malformations in Ho Chi Minh City./.
