The Government has decided to put aside 100.1 billion VND (5.3 million USD) for drought mitigation activities for the winter-spring crop.
The central province of Thanh Hoa will receive the most, 15 billion VND (794,000 USD), while the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai will get the least, 3 billion VND (158,000 USD).
Two irrigation works, Bac Hung Hai and Bac Nam Ha, each will be granted 5 billion VND (265,000 USD).
This is the third time this year funds have been provided for drought mitigation.
Last month, the Government contributed 46.6 billion VND (2.5 million USD) to six northern provinces and 144.6 billion VND (7.65 million USD) to 13 Cuu Long ( Mekong ) Delta provinces.
The other provinces to benefit from the latest fund are Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen and Phu Tho in the northeast; Hai Phong, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh in the Hong (Red) River Delta; Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri in the northern central and Binh Dinh in the southern central coast of Vietnam./.
