The government wholeheartedly supports the Economic Commission of the Party Central Committee, which is aiming to reach the common goal of seeing the country prosper economically and socially, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has confirmed.

The government leader, who is a Politburo member, was speaking at his Hanoi working session with the commission on March 19.

The Economic Commission, headed by Party Central Committee member Vuong Dinh Hue, is a consultative body for the Party Central Committee, in particular the Politburo and Secretariat, regarding policies and strategies related to socio-economic issues.

Taking on an advisory role, the commission gathers insightful ideas and solutions from scientists and agencies across the country to serve national socio-economic development.

Regarding a review managed by the commission, considering the institutional tools used to develop Vietnam’s market economy, PM Dung said compiling information is a very complex and time consuming task.

When completed, however, the review will illuminate how the market economy runs alongside the country’s socialist principles, he emphasised.

In 2013, the commission conducted an appraisal of political and social aspects in the economy.

It dispatched teams to examine the implementation of Party resolutions relating to socio-economic development in localities and regions across the country.

The Economic Commission was set up by the Politburo in December 2012.-VNA
