The National Committee on Education and Training Reform will be launched this March, working as a think-tank for the Government, heard the second meeting of the National Council on Education and Human Resources Development in Hanoi on February 25.
High on the agenda was also a draft action plan to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on basic and comprehensive education and training reform set at the eighth conference of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure).
Chairing the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the plan must ensure that education is a top national policy and its reform will meet the demands of industrialisation and modernisation in the context of the socialist-orientated market economy and global integration.
He directed the Ministry of Education and Training to acquire suggestions and perfect the action plan which is scheduled to be issued in March.
Participants also discussed a scheme on renewing school curricula and textbooks beyond 2015, which has been tabled to the National Assembly.
Regarding the issue, PM Dung asked the scheme compiling agency to work together with the NA Committees to make the scheme fit the reality.
At the meeting, the Government leader suggested the Council group more experts and educators besides the State officials in consultancy and assessment of the public’s feedback.-VNA
