World bronze medallist Thanh earned 14,100 points in the women's vault event behind Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland, who got 14.575 points. Slovenia's Teja Belak came third with 13,850 points.
Thanh, from Hai Phong, also entered the final round of the women's balance beam event after taking the lead in the qualifying round with 14,050 points.
In 2014, she won two golds and one bronze./.
